The Indiana Pacers outplayed the number one seed Chicago Bulls for 45 minutes on Saturday. The problem is that NBA games last 48 minutes. Tyler Hansbrough completed a three point play with a little over three minutes left to put the Pacers up 10. Then Derrick Rose showed why he will be the NBA’s MVP this season.
Playoff basketball is the time for the greats to shine. Rose did just that with 39 points, 6 assists, and 3 blocks, willing his team to a game one victory. The Pacers don’t have one of those yet. They have a good collection of young players, but none who can take over a game like Rose. This was a good lesson for the young Pacers. It takes an entire 48-minute effort to win in the playoffs. Hopefully, Frank Vogel can keep their heads up and they can get a game or two in this series.
